Aggregate Industries has made an important commitment to preserving this wonderful house and now employees a full time Curator and Events Manager for Hayfield Manor. Ms. Carolyn Diehl joined Aggregate Industries in 2007 and has played an important role as community liaison, curator and event manager. She has lived in different parts of the U.S., including Hawaii, and in Japan and has always had an interest in different cultures which led to an interest in history. Combining the two, she majored in Historic Preservation at the University of Mary Washington, graduated with Distinction in 2007 and started with Aggregate Industries within six weeks. In her words: “Showing the manor to visitors and guests is the best part of my job. Many of my visitors have seen the property in disrepair and are sometimes overwhelmed with the care that Aggregate Industries has taken to stabilize and restore Hayfield Manor. New visitors can not believe the before pictures and are amazed that the pictures represent the same manor.” Ms. Diehl has played an active role in the final stages of stabilization and furnishing Hayfield Manor and her passion for the house is as rich as the history that surround the property. Tours and events are by appointment and are free to the public. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Hours are from 9:00am to 4:00pm weekly (Wednesday 9:00am - noon only) Reservations preferred. |
