Hayfield Manor Reaches across History and across the US Below is a note received about Hayfield Manor, which demonstrates the rich history and tradition of the house: Dear Aggregate Industries, To Whom it may concern: Could you please forward this e-mail to Mr. Don Delano. This e-mail is in reference to Hayfield Plantation in Virginia. My great-great grandmother, Elizabeth Taylor Gwathmey Minge (Bessie) and her sister Fannie Gwathmey Adams as well as her mother lived at Hayfield during the Civil War. I was so excited when I read that Hayfield had been completely restored. I am a family history buff and this home has so much sentimental meaning to me. This is something I thought I would never see and thanks to Mr. Delano it is a reality. I will be traveling to Richmond, Virginia October 3-7 and am very interested in visiting Hayfield. Is this possible? Any help would be appreciated. Mary Frances Mantel Krause |
